Question: My wife, 45 years old, has diagnosed for TB last week. My Pead Doctor advised me to start R-cinex Kid tablet for my 13 months girl child (for 6 months) even though her tests (x-ray & montoux) are negative. What should I do?

1. The child is born after 17 years of our marriage. Her birth weight was 2.75 kg and its 7.8 kg in 13 months. Whether this is the cause for not gaining weight? I am worried abut this medicine. What are the side effects? What precautions to be taken? What extra diet is to be given?
2. Whether I should also undergo medication? I am 46 years and some sugar problem but not taking any medicine.

Specific questions answered
Detailed Answer:
As a diabetic, you are partially immunocompromised. However, instead of taking medicines for TB, I would suggest you take control of your diabetic status and take the medicines for that instead. A well controlled sugar status means you are as good as a normal person
As for the weight of the child, I dont think that is because of TB. After all the mother has been just detected with TB, and as you said, the kid is clear off TB in her tests. So no I dont think thats a problem
The main side effect of TB medicine (in adults and in kids) are its effects on the liver. So we will have to keep a watch on the liver function tests of both- the mother and the child
Best of luck
