Why Have I Had Diarrhea For 7 Months With No Proper Diagnosis Despite Various Tests?
Question: I have had diarrhea for 7 months. I have had an endoscopy, blood work an ultra sound on my gallbladder, liver everything is okay. I’m going thru a divorce it’s been one year and a half. I’m goimg to another doctor for my stool

Hi,
As per your clinical description and a normal investigative work up, the possibility of chronic irritable bowel syndrome predominantly diarrhoea type is very high.
This is supported by the fact that you are going through stress related issues of late.
I generally prescribe oral medications of Lomotil, Rifamixin and low dose antidepressant like Amitriptyline to my patients with such symptoms after ruling out organic abdominal pathology confidently.
Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to improve your symptoms.
