Why Have My Hands Been Swollen For The Last 12 Hours?
Question: my hands are swollen and have been for the last 12 hours. Could it be an allergic reaction?

Hi,
You are very right ; hands swelling, in the absence of swelling anywhere else specially feet ,is most of the times because of allergic reaction .howe'ver if there is swelling in feet or other part of body than it won't be allergy.
Angeoedema is a type of allergic reaction that can causes swelling and may occur with pain killers and ACE inhibitors that is blood pressure lowering drugs and with a lot of other things like drugs or viral infections .
I just wonder if you have used any new medicine ( or even if you use pain killer / ACE inhibitor from few months ) you should stop it. or if you a hve applied any things to ur hands that's should be washed as well .
Iinsects bite can also do the same so if you have any feeling like that .but would mostly be to one side .( can occur to both sides as well )
So to me it looks more to be an allergic reaction. what I would advise is to stop any thing that you suspect might have caused it , if swelling is reducing you can wait and avoid the trigger .
howe've If swelling is increasing are there is pain in your hands, or you feel little probelm with breathing or feel unwell I would suggest you immediately report to the ER .
