Why Is Apcod Obis Prescribed For PCOD Patient During Pregnancy?
Question: Hi Doctor,
My wife had PCOD in Dec 2015. Doctor said it was due to Folic Acid was not sufficient so brain was not fully developed. Now she is pregnant. Our doctor told us to use APCOD OBIS and Duphaston. Recently I came to know that APCOD doesn't contain FOLIC ACID. I am worried now. Is it ok to use? or Do i need to take any other folic acid tablets.
Your suggestions saves three lives.
Thanks in Advance.

Brief Answer:
Start with folic acid now.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Apcod obis is given to reduce the hormonal imbalance due to PCOD. It does not contain folic acid. Your wife needs an extra folic acid supplement. She can start taking Folvite 5 mg daily in addition to the medicines she is currently taking.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thanks Doctor for your reply.
Checked with my doctor and told her that APCOD OBIS doesn't contain Folic Acid. She was confused with Normal APCOD and APCOD OBIS :( this is really sad to hear. But we can't anything now. She gave us new tablet Fol123 to take every night 1.
Please confirm if this is sufficient or its already delayed. Its almost 7 weeks now that my wife got confirmed :(.
As I said (sorry confused with wordings), my wife had abortion (NTD) in 2015 December. And they confirmed that it was due to lack of Folic Acid.
Thanks and Regards,

Brief Answer:
Fol 123 is sufficient.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
It is best to start folic acid just before the conception. But now that she is in seventh week, it is best to start Fol 123 now. It will be sufficient for now. Do go for regular antenatal checkup and ultrasound scans to detect any anomaly early.
Hope my answer is helpful.
