Why Is Modus Tablet Prescribed For Complex Ovarian Cyst?
Question: Why doctors suggest Modus 10mg for complex Overian cyst. My wife was prescribed to take half tablet 3 times a day for 3 days. She took the tabelts till 15th May 2015 morning to complete the course prescibed by doctor. Her periods were to be on 15th May 2015 but even on 18th May 2015 her periods have not started. She definately is not pregnant.

Please tell me the size of the cyst?
Has any ultrasound/CT scan been done for the cyst ?
Complex ovarian cyst can be cancerous and then modus will not help.
Modus is a hormone generally used to reduce size of simple cysts which are hormone dependent.
Have you done a CA -125 tumor marker? Please let us know the values.
Yes Modus can delay periods as it is hormonal.

Sonography shows complex Ovarian cyst.
Pregancy test came as negative.
Also CA 125 test was done, the value is 14.
The size of cyst is 3.3 * 3.2* 2.6 cm.
No CT scan done yet.

In view of low CA 125 and size less than 5 cms there is a chance that it might not be cancerous but by far complex cysts are cancerous.
Since you are completing the modus course i will advise you to get a repeat sonogram to check the size.
If the size has not reduced with modus you will need to get the cyst surgically removed and sent for histopathology for detecting any cancer.
