Brief Answer:

To protect from acid

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Sucralfate is used to neutralize the acid in the stomach. Thereby reducing gastritis.

Many a times tiny angiodysplasia may bleed but not easy to find at the time of examination - colonoscopy hence missed many a times. May show up only if the scopy is done during active bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
