Why Is Systane Prescribed After Lasik Surgery?

Question: hello
i had lasik surgery for my vision correction on 30.1.2015
i am advised to use systane ultra for 90 days ; 6 times a day
i dont really need it as my eyes are by default watery and I dont have any dry eye issues
please advice the best course of action

I reviewed your history.
Systane ultra is a lubricating eye drops and is prescribed after lasik surgery to prevent dryness of eyes. Dry eyes occurs frequently following lasik surgery and hence we routinely advice lubricating eye drops following lasik surgery. Along with preventing dryness of eyes it also promotes healing and visual recovery.

If you are not having dry eye issues, then no need to use the systane ultra eye drops 6 times per day. But you need to use it atleast 2-3 times a day so that it promotes healing.
