Thanks so much I can send a photo but it will not show anything because the lumps do not protrude through the skin.. it it like when I rub my hand along the it band I can feel lumps underneath the skin..maybe it is just excess fat that has balled up?? I started noticing it because my knee was hurting on the outside of the left knee..it is hard to do squat exercises..I went to the doctor and they did an X-ray of the knee.. nothing was seen.. so they gave me the diagnosis of inflamed it band..so I started feeling along the it band and it feels lumpy..you can not visibly see it but you can feel it!! It does not cause pain except in the knee area..just want to get back to walking and exercising without pain.. I can not fully straighten my left knee which restricts my walking and elliptical exercising..this has been going on for over a month.. please help thanks!!!

Brief Answer:
Lipomas

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma’am, hello again.. if these lumps are not protruding through the skin, painless, easily and grows slowly , then this is probably lipomas which are fatty benign growths.. These are harmful and there is no need to worry.. However, if they start to be painful or the the overlying skin started to be red or inflamed then you should seek medical care to exclude abscess formation..
As for your knee, this is probably due to tendinitis which should be treated with an anti-inflammatory medication as voltaren gel which should be applied every six hours together with declofenac once daily for one week.. If no improvement occurred then you should refer to your doctor for a prescription of corticosteroids.. I hope you find this helpful.
Thanks.
