With regards to indicatoon for sphyncterostomy after gallbalder surgery I can say as follows:the
1. Pancreatitis due to biliary tree sludge or stones
2. Obstructive jaundice due to stuck of stones in biliary tree.
3. Infection of biliary tree due to sludge and stones.
4. Dyscynesia of sphyncter of oddi and biliary tree.

My wife had her gallbladder removed on FE. 24th 2017. Prior to the surgery she had a stent placed in the common bile duct. In 2 weeks the gastroenterologist is going to remove the stent. He wants to do a prophylactic sphincterotomy at the same time. I have been hesitant to have this done because of the potential complications. What is your opinion and thanks for your prompt answer to my first question.

i read carefully all your wife concerns and I can sa ya as follows:
1. If your whife has had jaundice before surgery that the doctor has put stent to improve biliery drainage.
2. It menas that your whife has had sludge or stobes not only in gallbladdr but even inbiliary tree.
If this is true that it is indicated to do sphyncterotomy to orevent future complications like cholangitis or pancreatitis due to sludge.
3. Sphyncterotomy will help her to better drainage biliary secretions.
This is why to my opinion is better if she perform sphyncterostomy to prevent this issues.
