Why My Belly Button Skin Is Splitting And Is Red?
Question: Belly button skin is splitting and is red
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for your query.
Contact dermatitis or bacterial infections can be the cause. Symptoms of contact dermatitis will often disappear on their own, but symptoms can be relieved with an over-the-counter antihistamine. Contact dermatitis can also be treated with topical corticosteroids. A bacterial infection will need to be treated with prescription-strength antibiotics.
You can try first an over-the-counter antihistamine and a topical corticosteroid, and if you cannot notice an improvement of your condition, you should consult a doctor for antibiotics prescription.
If you have any more queries, feel free to ask.
