Why My Cholesterol Levels Are Slightly Elevated Around 217?
Good Morning.
I am 33 years old and sometime last year, I was having pain in my lower back, side, lower abdomen and testicular pain not severe but just dull. This was happening on either side
but when it hurts on the right side it doesnt hurt on the left side and vice versa(first it hurts the back then the side and then lower abdomen).
It was alternating between left and right side. I started drinking coconut water and within 2 days the dull ache vanished.
I drank coconut water for about a month and didnt really have that issue again except a few times. I got my CBC,
urine analysis and also COMP. metabolic panel done (protein was in the normal range), all reports were absolutely normal.
Starting last week, I started noticing slight pain on the sides again, both sides at the same time. I also feel that my lower back is stiff,
especially when I wake up, it doesnt ache but I get the feel that it is weak.
I had B12 (around 170) and Vitamin D (around 9) deficiency last year but I tool supplements and they got back to the normal range.
However my cholesterol levels are slightly elevated around 217
Here are some of my questions:
(1) What could be the reason for this pain? I was not someone who was drinking enough water may be 500 ml per day
but for the past month or so I increased it to 2lts
(2) Can it be my vitamin D deficiency that was causing my lower back stiffness? ( after my supplement course last year I've been taking multivitamins)
(3) The pain on the side and lower abdomen is not severe and my lower back stiffness in the mornings are not intense, can I ignore them?
(4) If I need to get any tests, what tests would you recommend?
(5) Can my high cholesterol be causing this in anyway?
Please let me know. Thank You

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and investigations.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that you have posted the pain in loin and lower back radiating down to testicles is most likely to be related to Kidney and needs to get investigated .
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examinationa nd get following basic tests done to establish diagnosis .
1) Routine urine test.
2) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) C T Scan of abdomen and pelvis .(If required)
As regards your questions I would answer the as detailed below
1) Vit D Deficiency will not cause pain localized to particular area.
2) If one has any long standing health issue ,It is always better to get investigated rather than ignoring the same
3) High cholesterol levels does not cause pain in renal area or back.
Get the tests done to establish diagnosis .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
