Why My Daughter 4 Years Still Wetting Bed?
Question: Hello Doctor
My daughter is 4 years and 8.5 months old. She doesn't wear a diaper in the day since she was 3 years old. Since the last 15 days, I have been working towards her toilet training for the night. If i take her to the washroom after 4 hours of sleep, she remains dry until the morning. She drinks really less liquids 2-3 hours before sleep, goes to pee right before her tuck-in time, and sometimes twice in a span of 30 mins before getting to bed.
However, if I do not take her to the washroom in the middle of the night, she is not able to sense at that she needs to go. She wakes up after wetting the bed, changes clothes and sleeps again. She says that she doesn't realize when she has pressure, and only gets to know when her clothes are wet.
What should I do to fix this?

Detailed Answer:
Hi Thanks for writing to us.
It is better to restrict fluids 3 hours before bed time like you are doing now.
What I also suggest is alarm twice in the night at 4 hour intervals . Wake her up and send her to bathroom after alarm .
This may be needed for a few months .
Nocturnal enuresis does not need medicines till 7 years .
Be patient she will gain continence soon.
