Posted on Thu, 9 Jan 2025
Question: I contracted covid two weeks ago. My taste and smell is not back 100 percent and I have stubborn phlegm in the back of my throat that makes it feel like I can’t swallow. When will this go away and is there anything I can do to make it better?

Thank you in advance!

Brief Answer:
Average of a month

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma’am, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but most people who have lost the sense of taste and smell have regained them after an average of one month.. As for the thick phlegm, it is important that you drink plenty of fluids preferably hot drinks to decrease its thickness.. you can also use saline nasal spray or gargle with salty water.. Don’t use cough suppressant if you have cough as this will make phlegm thicker .. I hope you find this helpful..
