Brief Answer:
Itching during pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome here,

Safety of the solution lactocalamine during pregnancy depends on the sensitivity of the skin. If it is dry and sensitive skin that becomes dry and red after other chemicals like soap or medicines, then lactocalamine is not safe. You can chose from one of the following options:
- diaper rash creams, creams with zinc oxide or other thick creams can be used over itchy patches
- Coconut oil or another oil cooking oil like olive oil or mustard oil is also good for general application over whole body.
- Hydrocortisone 1% cream can be applied locally for an intense itchy patch.

Itching over body should also be investigated by gynecologist for any hormonal issues and re-assess need for ongoing progesterone. Itching can also be caused by other issues like liver problems etc.

Hello Dr Vaishalee

Thank you for the advise.

Well, my wife's skin is not that much sensitive to other soaps and chemicals. She used to apply lacto calamine prior to pregnancy at certain times.

Could you please suggest the names of the specific medicines for Diaper rash creams and zinc oxide creams?

Additionally, we are planning to check with our Gynaec next week as we have scheduled scans and blood tests too.

Thank you Doctor.

We are familiar with MamaEarth. So, these diaper-rash creams can be used by adult female for getting relief from body itchings?
If that is so, it would be great option.

Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hi

It should work if it is from some skin issue like a rash etc.
If it is coming from another health condition like progesterone intake, hormonal issues or liver issues etc then it may only partially work. and the condition will need to be corrected.
