Why Persistent Headache Over The Last Week?

default
Posted on 1 day ago
Question: 30 yrs old..Top of my left foot is swollen and painful, no injury. Swelling localized to top of foot only. Started 3 days ago, hurts when I walk or press on it. R foot normal. No redness or warmth to make me think infection and no new shoes or any change in daily routine. No overuse. Should I be concerned? Have taken ibuprofen, applied ice and elevated when possible. No improvement. Also, somewhat persistent headache over the last week. Not sure if related but I don't get headaches often so thought should mention it

Brief Answer:
Can be arthritis or a stress fracture.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain and swelling of top of the foot without any history of injury can be due to an inflammation like arthritis. Any stress fracture also needs to be ruled out if it is painful on putting direct pressure on the area.
Ibuprofen and ice usually take care of minor inflammation well. In case the pain and swelling are persistent then it is best to consult an orthopedician and get an X-ray done to find out the exact pathology.
Meanwhile avoid all painful activities and avoid any weight bearing on the foot.
I hope this answers your query.
