Question: I have a problem in my nose. The upper part inside my nose starts irritating and then continuous sneezing starts along with watery eyes and nose. Chances of the start of irritation is high in dust or smoke. Not sure if it is a sinus or a polyp.

Brief Answer:
It's neither related to the sinus or polyps

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for posting the query

1. The inner lining or mucosa of the nose has sensitive nerve endings, which would trigger an allergic reaction such as sneezing and running nose.

2. The above problem can be addressed using oral Antihistamines and steroid nasal spray.

3. The presence of polyps would cause a recurrent nasal block, breathing difficulty, sneezing, and running nose.

4. Sinus problems present with headache, heaviness of the head, and nasal stuffiness.

I hope this answers your query. Revert to me if you have any follow-up questions.

Regards

Brief Answer:
Oral antihistamines and intranasal corticosteroids

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome back

My sincere apologies for the delay in Responding.

1. Oral antihistamines such as Fexofenadine should be tried. It's readily available over the counter.

2. Intranasal corticosteroids such as Fluticasone or Mometasone can give good results.

3. Above all, the best way to overcome this problem is to prevent exposure to allergens.

With the above interventions, you should get better.

I hope this clarifies your doubts. I wish you good health.

Steroid Nasal Spray usually have a standard doseā€¦

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome back

1. You can take Fexofenadine 180mg initially and then taper it down to 120 mg once your symptoms get controlled. This medicine is available over the counter without a prescription.

2. Fluticasone and Mometasone have a standard dose. You can use either of them. The availability over the counter depends upon the country you are residing in. You can use either of these sprays once in night before going to bed. The spray should be used according to your symptoms which may vary from 2-6 months, depending upon the individual.

I hope this clarifies your doubts. I wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
Wish you and your family a Happy & Blessed Diwali

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX

Thanks a ton for your lovely wishes. I wish you and your family a very Happy & Blessed Diwali. May the festival of lights bring lots of happiness, prosperity and good health to you all. God bless you.

I would recommend you to hold the Fexofenadine tab and use it only when required. But, please continue using the spray for at least a couple of months. Also, you need to taper down the dosage of the spray before you completely stop it.
