Why When I Do Weighted Shoulder Rolls, My Head Gets Tired?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Jul 2024
Question: Hi

When I do weighted shoulder rolls, my head gets tired; My head feels heavier, my mood changes and I cannot think clearly. Moreover, once I woke up with almost no memory (which improved after sleeping for an additional two hours).

However, while that is the case, it has also removed a few symptoms I have had for about five years; I no longer need magnesium supplements to sleep.

I am not sure how to proceed; I am currently doing the shoulder rolls with less heavy weights to reduce the cognitive impairments it led to the first few times I did it. However, it would be great to have a clearer path forward. My doctors don't even think any test is required.

Brief Answer:
Probably a degree of impairment of blood supply of the brain .

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have read your question.

Probably weighted shoulder roll that you do, in some way impair the blood supply of the brain, since you experienced those symptoms.

This is very possible if there is some degree of narrowing of the blood vessels that supply the brain and this possibility can be understood better with examinations such as ultrasound of the neck vessels for example.

If it is possible to avoid this type of exercise should prevent from symptoms that you refer.
Thanks.

Well, I have already spoken with both my doctor and neurologist about this; They both said that the muscles are outside of the veins and hence the exercises cannot impact blood flow to the brain; Thus, the only testing they agreed on were blood tests.

Also, my cognitive issues started with impaired sleep in October 2017. The fact that these exercises seem to improve my sleep makes me a bit uncertain about how to proceed.

Also, my head feeling heavy disappeared once I stopped taking magnesium.

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Since one of the possible causes of your symptoms was thought magnesium, you should not use it anymore.

Exercising with less weight load on the shoulders also should be considered.

For better sleeping, you can consider melatonin supplements for example.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
