Why While Cycling Going To Maximum Heart Rate ?
Question: Hi I was working very hard on preparing talks on complex subjects - the New Cold War - I began having very vivid dreams about the talks. These dreams had a XXXXXXX vu aspect - and strange feelings. - I would wake up and think I understood them but didn't. Then I began having episodes while awake that consisted of XXXXXXX vu, a feeling that it had something to do with the talks.. I could tell one was coming from a feeling in my stomach - then the feeling went to my head - very unpleasant not really describable - sometimes a vibrating feeling in my sternum and stomach. These lasted for about 20 sec. I have been biking and xc skiing, going to maximum heart rate and that does not bring them on. Also 4 times something triggered a memory and then I got a sudden feeling like an electric shock in my neck and lower back of my head causing my knees to feel weak. Could it be Anxiety neurosis or Temporal Lobe Seizures or ?? thanks
Brief Answer:
Most likely anxiety
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I read your query and understand your concerns.
From the available description it appears that your symptoms are due to anxiety rather than temporal lobe seizures.
My assumption is based on the fact that temporal lobe seizures do not last for such long duration and the age of onset is often in very young age.
I request you to consult a psychiatrist. In case you are comfortable for online consultation you can approach me for detailed evaluation. I will be happy to assist you.
Thanks.

HI thanks for you answer,
When you say that temporal lobe seizures do not last for such long duration - mine last for about 20 sec.
I had two yesterday (the seem to start late afternoon) - one while talking to someone and one while driving - there is a strange feeling and unpleasant XXXXXXX vu feeling. I didn't have any terror dreams. For the last three days I got the electric shock feeling at the top of my neck and base of my head. Yesterday it came when my son said he had to talk to me about a problem.
Yes I would like to approach you for help as it will take me a long time to see a psychiatrist.
thank again, XXXXXXX

Now I am getting more episodes that are triggered by what someone says - they are a sudden flash in the brain - lasting maybe 1 sec - one was my son saying he had a problem - another my wife asked me how many episodes I had today

Follow up
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up.
The onset of XXXXXXX vu feelings after a worrying incident (someone says I have a problem) again indicates that these are the anxiety episodes and not the temporal lobe seizures.
I understand that the duration matches for the typical TLE episodes in your case but it does not mean that these experienced phenomenon represents seizures. There are other things which needs to be considered when a seizure is diagnosed.
I hope this helps you further.
Thanks again.

Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up.
I think we need to plan this in individualistic manner as generic plans are widely available over the internet and beyond my capacity to write them in comprehensive manner.
You are requested to contact a psychiatrist for complete evaluation so the next steps can be taken.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks again.
