Will Adderall Take 36 Hours Before A Urine Drug Test Show Up?

default
Posted on Fri, 15 May 2015
Question: Hello, I underwent a urine drug test on Monday morning, approximately 36 hours after I took a 10mg Adderall. Would there have been enough of the amphetamine metabolites left in my system to have been detected by the urine test (typical detection threshold of 500-1000 ng/ml)? I am a 6'1", 200 lb. male with a high metabolism and drank probably 2-3 liters of fluids during this 36-hour period. I also did ~15 minutes of intense cardio exercise during this time. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
The test could be positive

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

although nobody could answer with 100% accuracy because elimination (and detection) depends on various factors like the dosage, the urinary pH, the amount of fluids, the body's ability to excrete it (which may not be the same for everyone) etc, I can say that in many cases the drug can be detected in the urine up to 3 days after use. The drug is eliminated almost completely in the blood after 2-3 days. Urinary excretion depends a lot on urinary pH and fluid excretion. 24-48 hours after taking the drug, the drug is usually detected but it may be detected up to 72 hours after the time you took it.

So in conlusion, although I can't be certain about it, there are good chances that the drug would be detected but you can still hope that your large body, the fluid intake (which was not that huge - a couple of liters per day is normal) and the 36 hours that have passed would be enough for it to be eliminated and excreted in such a quantity that the rest of it would go undetectable.

I hope I've helped a bit!
Kind Regards!
