Question: Husband has accessed tooth we are on our way out of town tonight. I have brand new bottle of rifampin and bacterium. From what I have read theses will work. He routinely has liver profile and diabetes checkup 3 x yearly.not bacterium but bactrim

Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I have read your query in detail and what I am able to get from your query is that your husband has got a tooth ache and since you are out of town what antibiotics amongst these you can give.
I would advice you to use Bactrim for that purpose because it has a better coverage as compared to Rifampin. Only issue is that a lot many people develop drug sensitivity to it. So if he has used it in past risk of drug reaction is low.
I would also recommend to do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief and in case of severe pain pain killers like Ibuprofen can be used.
See your dentist as soon as possible.
