Will CT-scan Of Sinuses Show Signs Of Any Tumor In Frontal Lobe?
Question: I've had a weird sort of headache in the frontal area above my eyebrow for awhile. I've had a full CT scan of the sinsues and a complete neurological exam, both of which were normal. My neurologist said that even though a CT scan takes pics of the sinuses, the tech would have seen the brain as well, and especially in the frontal lobe would have likely been alerted if a tumor was present. Do you agree?
Brief Answer:
Your neurologist is right about frontal lobe visualized in CT scan sinuses
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
In my experience with hundreds of CT scan of paranasal air sinuses, a tumor in the frontal lobe, if present will be seen in the CT scan of sinuses.
The sinuses are imaged in the coronal plane and this will show the frontal lobe also. Your neurologist has said it right.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
