Will I Stop Breathing In My Sleep? This Seems Silly
Question: Will I stop breathing in my sleep?
This seems silly as I type it but here I go: I’m actually very hungover still and it is 9pm. Sometimes when I start to fall asleep I jolt awake because it seems I stop breathing, or feels like it. This only happens if I am severely hungover. Will the residual effects of alcohol consumption cause my brain to not work properly and cause me to stop breathing in my sleep?
I don’t drink often, but I drank heavily Last night. About 2 bottles of wine or so. My last drink was 18 hours ago and I slept about 5 hours when I got home after drinking.
I’m 35, f, healthy with no underlying health conditions. I have had a full physical recently and my ekg, blood panel came back normal.

In regard to your question I like to inform you that averagely our body metabolises 10-15 grams of alcohol per hour and by now (considering 18 hours) almost 40% or more of consumed alcohol metabolised by now assuming the concentration of alcohol was in range of 30-40% as applicable for most wines.
Based on this it can be stated that your brain is exposed to near half concentration of alcohol in compare to previous day and there is little chance of brain malfunction at this stage provided there is no further alcohol intake.
