Progesterone pill should be taken to regularize period while TTC.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:
PCOS is most common endocrine disorder among reproductive age group women. It is associated with metabolic dysfunction, irregular late period and impairment of proper ovulation, leads to conceiving problem.
Follow this guideline which helps you to maximize the chance of pregnancy:
a) If your period is quite IRREGULAR, then you need to take PROGESTERONE supplement from D16 to D25 for at least 6 cycles (instead of OVRAL-L or combined hormonal pill - which has contraceptive effect). Take complete prescription from your doctor.
With REGULAR period, you should involve in unprotected sex WITHOUT any contraceptive method close to your OVULATION day (14 days prior to next due date) or fertile days (12th to 18th day of each 28- 30 days regular cycle) for at least 6 to 12 months.
You can use ovulation prediction kit or LH kit to predict ovulation day in middle of the cycle. It is available in all medical store.
b) Some fertility treatment should be added after undergoing some basic tests and investigations like complete hormone test (LH/FSH, Serum Prolactin, Thyroid profile etc). METFORMIN is widely used with Ovulation induction drug to induce ovulation.
c) You must take a healthy balanced diet with more fresh fruits and vegetables. Low carbohydrate diet is preferable. Take vitamin-E and Folic acid supplements for 3 months in preconception period and thereafter. NORMOZ can be taken according to your doctor's advice.
d) Do light to moderate exercise for physical fitness and weight control. Avoid mental stress completely by regular meditation or yoga. Maintain a healthy life style overall.
