Will Dehydration Cause Dizziness And Blurred Vision?

Question: Hi. A couple days ago I ha a minor case of food poisoning. Since then, over the past two days I've had 3 or 4 episodes of dizziness with sweaty palms and even blurred vision. Each episode was about 20 to 30 seconds. I do not drink, I am not overweight, I smoke perhaps 3-4 cigarettes a week. I went to see a doctor and the doctor seems to think I may be dehydrated. Would dehydration cause these symptoms?
Brief Answer:
I do agree.
Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Judging from your description I would say those symptoms are not suggestive of another more serious issue such as a neurological condition if that is what you fear.
I do tend to agree with your doctor adding to dehydration also electrolyte alterations which go hand in hand with water loss from food poisoning. So some days may be needed for the electrolytes to be replenished and normal balance to be restored.
Let me know if I can further assist you.

Thank you.would you be able to suggest why the spells seem to occur while engaged in an activity that involves looking at a screen?
Brief Answer:
Read below.
Detailed Answer:
Such symptoms such as headaches, blurred vision etc are common when having to work with a screen. In many people happens even in the absence of dehydration or electrolyte changes. It is thought to be due to the extra strain looking at a screen involves compared to other activities, that is due to the glare, the flickering, the contrast etc which this activity adds.
While as I said in some happens every time, in others it is more obvious when their brains (the eyes are an extension of the brain as well) are more vulnerable due to factors such as fatigue, lack of sleep, stress and anxiety, or in your case water and electrolyte imbalance.
I hope to have been of help.
