Will I Gain Weight By Having 2000 Calories Just For One Day?
Question: Hi I just have a question about my eating today. I'm an 18 year old girl. 5ft 7 around 130 lbs. I have been on a diet and have been losing weight. Today for breakfast I had cereal with skim milk and half an apple with peanutbutter. Before lunch, in school, my class had I guess a "party" and there were cookies, brownies, candies, etc. Honestly I couldn't help myself and had like 2 brownies and some star-bursts.. Because of this, I was then reluctant to eat my lunch not only because I just felt guilty from indulging but because I truthfully wasn't that hungry so I only had like a XXXXXXX thing of trail mix. Then when I got home from school, I ran for about 45 minutes and did some weights. For dinner I had salmon and a salad (and a couple bites of chips and guac) and then to top it all off...my mom was making this chocolate parfait thing for a work party and there was a lot leftover that she didn't bring and it was SO GOOD plus I hardly eat junk so I ate a pretty good amount of it. I couldn't help myself but to count up all the calories I ate the whole day which ended up being a little over 2000 and I just feel so guilty and am not sure if i'm going to gain weight since a lot of it was unhealthy food but mainly because I usually eat like 1300-1500 cals a day so this was rapidly a lot more so i'm not sure how that works in terms of my bodies metabolism. On the bright side, however, I do feel like I have more energy and am less fatigued. So I'm not sure, maybe my body needed it? Regardless, I just want to know how or if this is going to effect my body and/or make me gain real weight. Yes, of course if you eat unhealthy or overeat for a long period of time you will gain weight. But I'm more so talking just about today in terms of weight gain and how detrimental it was to my body or if I'm over exaggerating?
Brief Answer:
One time overeating doesn't cause significant weight gain
Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,
the 2000 calories today will not have a significant effect on your body weight. If you keep eating about 1500 cal. per day regularly this one time outbreak is forgivable. Please keep up te good work with diet and exercise. If you can't control your "eatin urge" sometimes it can also help to get psychological assistance in order to learn strategies to deal with it in better ways.
Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
