Brief Answer:
There is unlikely to be bile leak
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms,
As you have Undergone Whipple ( Pancreatico-duodenectomy) . The Bile duct normally enters the duodenum. When the duodenum has been excised, the bile duct is anastomosed ( joined to ) to jejunum(small intestine ). Also the Pancreas is anastomosed to small intestine below it. If the anastomosis is strong enough there is unlikely to be bile leak.
Bile leak in the post-operative period is suspected if there is
1. Pain in upper right abdomen
2. Fever
3. Distension of abdomen
3. Jaundice
4. On clinical examination there is tenderness and gaurding on palpation in right upper abdomen if the bile leak is localized.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

I had surgeries in '05 and '06 and have been doing sufficiently well till sudden onset of pain and nausea. If MRI and CAT are normal what could be causing me so much pain, loss of appetite, weight loss and nausea.
Brief Answer:
Possibly due to Gastritis
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms
Its very much reassuring to know that CAT and MRI scan are normal.
If you are experiencing Upper Abdominal pain and nausea its likely to be due to following possibility.
1. Gastritis/Gastric Ulcer
2. Anastomotic Ulcer
It will require further evaluation by Upper Gastro-intestinal Endoscopy.
In the Meantime I would suggest you the following.
1. Ensure good intake of water: 3 liter per day
2. Eat Meals regularly
3. Avoid Oily/spicy food
4. Combination Of Pantoprozole and Domperidone will be helpful in empirical treatment of Pain and Vomiting.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance.
Wishing you a happy and healthy life.
Take Care
Regards
Deepak
