Hi,

An a abstinence of 8 days is needed to prevent spread the Chlamydia to sex partner after complete course of antibiotics which could be a single dose regime of a antibiotic or 7 day course of a antibiotic.

I got the ceftriaxone shot on Thursday last week and started taking azithromycin 200mg the same day as the shot twice the first day and once the next four days after that.

Brief Answer:
Antibiotic schedule below.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The recommended schedule for treatment of chlamydia differs from what you have been given Loading dose of Azithromycin / 7 day regime of 200mmg Azithromycin or Doxycycline 100mg twice a day /7 day regime of Amoxicillin 500mg three times a day , is required for cure of the disease.
Ceftriaxone is given to treat pelvic infection or severe genital infections but it is not specifically recommended in treating chlamydia.

I find the drugs given to you a bit insufficient, which may give symptomatic relief but recurrent infection could be seen.
In this scenario I would suggest repeat test to exclude remnant infection before you start sex.(As previously stated treatment of the sex partner, if exposed to the infection, is essential)
In case of incomplete healing, please consult treating doctor for a wholesome treatment plan and have freedom from the condition.

I hope that answers your query. Any follow up query you have please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks.

Sorry, I just checked the box it was 250mg for a 5 day dose, but the first day was two of the pills. So, a total of 6 Tablets.

Brief Answer:
The medicines needs to be given twice a day.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Azithromycin dose needs to be given twice a day to cover the chalamedia infection. 50 mg extra does not compensate to make it a single dose in a day.

I hope you understood the point. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.

So, you’re saying my infection won’t be cleared up at all? Because the doctor I went to said that would clear it up, also I haven’t had any symptoms the past four days.

Brief Answer:
Though possible cure needs to be confirmed.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have already mentioned need to reinvestigated and confirm the cure (the dosage given may not eradicate the infection). as the chlamydia does need vigorous treatment to cure barring which possibility of repeat infection and serious pelvic inflammation is possible. There is no harm in confirming.

I hope that makes the point clear.
Thanks.
