Will My Baby Get Febrile Seizure Again At Some Point In Time When He Has Fever?
Question: My baby is 1.5 years old. Weighs 10 kg. He developed a cold 2c days back and day before yesterday he had fever at night.I gave him Sinarest syrup(which also had paracetamol in it).But I dint give him any additional paracetamol.By morning the fever had increased and he had febrile seizures which lasted for 2 to 3 mins.He became normal after that. We consulted doctor and they mentioned it's normal when the fever is high.We are giving him paracetamol every 4 hour and the fever is reduced.
baby has no other health issues. Nobody in the family has any serious heart issue.
however after this episode I'm really worried.
1.Will my baby get febrile seizure again at some point in time when he has fever?
2.Can we prevent this?
3will this febrile seizures have any effect on brain?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The febrile seizure are normal in case of a fever. So ,your baby might have them again in case of a fever.
You can prevent the seizure only if you don't let the fever get raised too much.
There is no evidence that short febrile seizures cause brain damage.
