Brief Answer:
recurrent tonsillolith- tonsillectomy

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having foul breath.

Based on your clinical details, it (tonsil stones) occurs to be the root cause for your foul breath.

Tonsil stones, also known as tonsilloliths, are normally caused by the accumulation of food debris and mucus secreted from post nasal drip trapped in the tonsils. The basic odorous nature of these chemical compounds (food and post nasal drip) is the main factor behind chronic bad breath, which eventually does lead to halitosis.

I suggest you to follow these measures to overcome your halitosis (foul breath) secondary to tonsillolith.

1. salt water gargling.

2. In case of pain, chrohexidine or hydrogen peroxide gargle can be used.

3. Avoid dairy products, gargle after each meal.

4. Depending on the location or size of the tonsil stone, it may also be difficult or painful to swallow foods or liquids. And because of shared nerve networks, the patient may feel referred pain in their ear, even though the stone itself is not touching the ear. It can be removed manually by an ent surgeon.

5. In case of recurrence or other complications (tonsillitis, abscess) needs surgery (tonsillectomy). Tonsillectomy is the permanent solution for tonsillolith.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
