Will The Use Of Marijuana 5 Months Prior To Hair Follicle Test Show Up?
Question: If I smoked marijuana once 5 months ago will it show up on a hair follical test. My hair is an inch long so they will probably take leg hair. Will I be okay. I heard leg hair shows a longer detection time than 90 days
Brief Answer:
You will pass the test, it will not show up in hair follicle test
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
You are right that leg hair shows longer detection time than 90 days. But this is possible only in chronic user and that is almost not more than 120 days.
In your case only once you have smoked and that was before almost 150 days back. And 1 inch hair is there. These factors definitely rules out possibility of positive test.
Your test will be negative and you can pass the test.
All the best.

Thank you dr. I was told today that they might take fingernails to test should I still be okay. So leg body hair doesn't go past 120 days? I heard it can go back a year.
If I took two hits of marijuana 30 days ago will it show up on a hair follical test? I heard hair test don't usually pick up on one time use

Brief Answer:
Fingernails test will also be negative
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for follow up.
No there is no evidence or case report that leg body hair can go positive for 1 year.
There are chances that in body hair marijuana test can come positive for more that 90 days but not for a year. And when chronic continuous high intake of marijuana is there, this is possibility. And it is also not like that test will come positive for all hair. All body hair are also replaced regularly like scalp hair so only 10% can retain metabolites of marijuana at a time. Considering all these factors, in your case there is no possibility that body hair test can come positive.
Fingernail test also would not be positive after 90 days if you are cutting your nail regularly.
Yes if you have taken two hits of marijuana 30 days ago chances are there that it can come positive. 50-50 chances are there. As metabolites would be their in some hair and not in all hair.Even after single use it can come positive.
Hope I have answered your query, feel free to discuss further.
