Question: Hello Doctor ,

She is having diabetes for the past 12 years and undergone cataract surgey in one of the eye last year.

Offlate , she had a problem in her other eye ( on which cataract is not done ) wherein the eye became red and some sort of liquid also was coming out .

Also , she had a mild pain as well.This started day before yesterday ( Saturady night ).

We had consulted the opthalmalogist today morning and the doctor diagnosed it to be the case of "severe Iritis".

He has given the required medications but then he has also suggested to bring down the blood sugar level immedtately so that it gets healed soon.

Already my mother is using Insulin and when we checked for blood sugar level 3-4 days back , the post prandial sugar level was 210.

So My questions are below.

1. Will there be an issue in the healing process of Iritis if the blood sugar level is 200.Our doctor has suggested to bring it down to 150.

2.Also , our doctor has alarmed us saying if it doesnt gets healed , it can lead to severe complication wherein we have to remove the eyes.I understood that it can lead to loss of vision , but will there be a situation where the eye itself has to be removed ?

Please advise us on the above questions.

Meanwhile , we are goinfg to consult our diabetologist tomorrow ( tuesday ).

and yes , we had consulted the diabetologist today and he has slightly increased the dosage of insulin.

Please advise us if these are good enough to heal the Iritis ( with PP blood sugar level 150-200) or we need to do any other further treatment/improvements.
