Woke Up This Morning Unable To Use My Hand From

Question: Woke up this morning unable to use my hand from wrist to hand. No pain, no bloating,
Brief Answer:
How long has this been lasting?
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask A Doctor' service.
The most common cause of this would be a nerve compression at the wrist, which can happen due to position while sleeping. However, I would only expect this to last for a few hours at the most, by which time it should at least be improving.
How long have you had this weakness?
Is it getting better at all? Do you have sensation in the hand?
Let me know how it is going and I'd be glad to discuss it further with you.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to nerve damage
Detailed Answer:
It sounds like you have had some nerve damage there, though it would be hard to say what the cause it would be. You will likely need an EMG and nerve conduction study, after getting a full neurological examination on the arm by your doctor.
It's not an emergency, but I would try to get in to see your doctor soon, in the next week or so.
I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
