Would A Couple With A Positive And A Negative Blood Groups Have Any Complication With Childbirth?
Mother - A(Negative)
Father - A(Positive)
Usually not if taken care of, chances of Rh incompatibility
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As baby born to negative blood group(Rh -) mother and positive blood group(Rh +) father may have Rh incompatibility (a condition in which blood cells break easily).
Usually Rh incompatibility is an antigen antibody reaction and usually not seen in first born baby. This Rh incompatibility may cause intrauterine death, anemia, severe jaundice or heart failure in newborn. During first delivery mother gets exposed to positive blood group of mother and this leads to development of antibodies in mother.
These antibodies may cause Rh incompatibility in second born baby and can be avoided if mother is in regular follow up with doctor during her pregnancy period.
Anti RhD injection if given during pregnancy prevents this incompatibility.
So you need not to worry as the possible condition can be avoided if properly taken care of.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards
My pleasure
