Would Hypothyroidism Be A Concern For Me?

I recently had blood tests done with thyroid concerns. My T4 level was .7 when the “normal” range was .7-1.5. Since I am on the very low end of the scale, would hypothyroidism be a concern for me?
Please see the detailed answer below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have recently done T4 test and found 0.7 where normal range is 0.7-1.5 ng/dL.
The normal value of T4 range is 0.7-1.5 ng/dL, if your T4 is lower than 0.7, then it may be resulted from hypothyroidism, acute illnesses, malnutrition, starvation, medications etc.
If T4 is within normal range or in the lower limit of normal range and TSH is raised, then someone may be at the risk of developing hypothyroidism in the future.
As your T4 is in the lower limit of normal range, so, it is still within normal range. It doesn't predict that you may develop hypothyroidism in the future and without knowing your T3 as well as TSH level, it is difficult to predict anything.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
