Would Withdrawal Symptoms Occur After Tapering Off Klonopin?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Feb 2017
Question: Being tapering of klonopin for almost a year. Currently at 0.25mg and finally he said to drink the 0.25mg 3 times a week in a single night dose during a month then the same 0.25mg monday and friday for month and lastly only on friday for a month. After that to stop drinking the pill. My question is am i going to experince severe withdrawal synptoms? And do you think my doctor is using a proper way for me to finally stop taking the medicine?

Thanks doctor. How about the protacte acute withdrawal? If i do feel a little withdrawal will it conpare or associate to a protacte acute withdrawal? Or would i feel the way i felt when i stopped cold turkey?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

This tapering schedule is exactly what I would prescribe. Your doctor is doing this perfectly. You are very unlikely to have withdrawal. Trust your doctor, they are doing this exactly right.

Brief Answer:
Followup

Detailed Answer:
If you mean "protracted withdrawal," no, you will not experience this. You will not experience a cold-turkey stop sensation either. That is the purpose of a slow taper. Everything should be fine exactly as your doctor prescribed it.
