Yellowness Of Eyes, Tingling Tip Of Tongue, Lips, Toes And Fingers. Symptoms Of Liver Disorder?
I have recently enquired about yellowing of the eyes. I have had a blood test yesterday for liver function and am awaiting results.
Another question. I have had tingling tip of tongue, lips, toes and fingers for a few days. I am light headed. Wouls this be associated with a liver disorder?
I am 45, have been drinking regularly for 8 years, am 48kg in weight, approx. 4 standard drinks per day, with exception of 2 years when pregnant and breast feeding.
Thanks
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Yellowness of eyes could be due to alcoholic hepatitis and similarly tingling sensations could be due to alcoholic peripheral neuropathy. However these symtoms could be due to deficiency of VIT B 12 also.
Tingling can be due to neuropathy caused by uncontrolled diabetes also.
Let us wait for the results of your liver function tests and then we can proceed ahead with our discussion.
Please let me know the results, the moment they arrive.
In the meantime, please stop consuming alcohol,as continues and excessive alcoholism is bound to cause problems, sooner or later.
I hope it helps.
Please revert to me once you get the reports.
Best of luck
Thanks
That would be fine.Awaiting the results.
Thanks
My test was negative, assuming normal levels. I have not seen the results, but I am only notified by the doctor if the results were of any concern.
Does the liver function test involve a pancreas function test also?
I am not a doctor but I know the pancreas can sometimes be a cause of the above symptoms.
I am a smoker also, 10 per day if that is of any help.
Thanks so much.

There is nothing to worry as your liver function tests are normal.
Pancreas involvement is ruled out because you don't have those symptoms and moreover your liver function tests are normal.Get yourself tested for VIT B 12 and diabetes, since you are suffering from numbness.
Thanks
