Yesterday Morning, I Woke Up From Pain In My Testicles

default
Posted on Thu, 9 May 2019
Question: Yesterday morning, I woke up from pain in my testicles that reminded me of 'blue balls' and pain in my lower abdomen, right underneath my belly where the groin starts. The pain in my testicles subsided after around 4 hours, while the pain in my abdomen persisted throughout the day, and would gradually become intermittent but stay for around 30 minutes. For most of today I have experienced the same abdomen pain, though diminished in intensity, and have felt OK for the past few hours now. It has been about 30 hours since I first felt pain in my testicles. I masturbated yesterday about 8 hours after first experiencing pain, and earlier this morning, and produced significantly less ejaculate then normal. I masturbated about an hour ago and produced a normal amount of ejaculate for me. I am reading all sorts of horrible things online about hernias and testicle tortion. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
possible calculus, gravels in urinary system with referred pain to testis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* As per my surgical experience, the testicle pain followed by abdomen pain usually refer
to underlying calculus in the urinary system ( kidney or ureter ) which gives referred
pain to testicle.

* Hernia is obviously protrusion of swelling involving groin which you can see by
coughing or any exercise which increase the pressure in the abdomen while torsion
has usual associated sharp, unremitting pain with vomiting in many of the instances.

* My recommendations at present for you

- Consume more liquids to flush the possible gravels in the urinary system.
- Tablet tylenol for pain relief 2-3 times a day after meals.
- Consult your family physician for the need of ultrasound evaluation of the abdomen,
pelvis and testes to find the root cause and manage accordingly.

Wish you best recovery and health.
