Blood , Clots In Urine--no Pain

Question: Brief Answer:
I recommend you see a urologist
Detailed Answer:
Hi Irishbillycal,
Usually, macroscopic blood in the urine of a male older than 50 years should prompt urologic consultation with a computed tomography scan and cystoscopy, to rule out cancer. If you have no additional symptoms, e.g.pain, palpable mass in your flank, weight loss, etc., it is probably benign. Anticoagulant therapy can also cause blood in the urine. Finally, kidney disease may lead to blood in your urine, and this can be assessed on blood tests at your own doctor's.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

blood , clots in urine--no pain

definitely feel it was from sex exertion--both instances were directly after sexual activity--no alcohol or further exertion recommended? no pain involved at all, urine fine after first discoloration. probably a micr0-injury?
Brief Answer:
Sounds very probable
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
That definitely sounds very likely, especially if it is almost purely blood clot, and not 'just' discolored urine. If it is only after sex, it sounds very benign. If you are concerned, you could see a urologist for an endoscopy of your urethra.
Hope this helps.

thanks for reply---what length of abstinence would be appropriate--i just want to heal properly. Any restrictions on alcohol etc, please let me know---I will call Doc this week.
Brief Answer:
A week's time or so
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
I would suggest a week's time or so. If it continues to bleed, try two weeks. And if that doesn't help, I suggest you see a urologist. No other restrictions.
Best wishes.
