Hello and welcome to "Ask A Doctor"
I have gone through your query. Burning pain in your knees can be due to osteoarthritis which is an age related degeneration of bones/joints.
I would suggest you to take some painkillers such as Tab. Tylenol and can do some home remedies such as hot fomentation followed by a pain relief gel such as Volini followed by hot shower. I would suggest you repeat this process twice daily for 3 to 5 days.
If Gabapentin is making you sick I would suggest you meet your treating doctor for an alternative drug.
Physiotherapy will also help reduce the pain and swelling. Knee exercises and walking can be done after your pain and swelling has reduced.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to discuss further.
