Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that complex PTSD can cause fainting.

Anyway, before coming to this conclusion, it is necessary to exclude other possible causes that may lead to this situation: a cardiac arrhythmia, epilepsy seizures or a metabolic disorder (arterial hypotension, hypoglycemia, thyroid gland dysfunction, electrolyte imbalance, etc.).

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests:

- a cardiac ultrasound and an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring in order to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia
- an EEG to investigate for seizures
- fasting glucose
- blood electrolytes
- thyroid gland hormones.

If all these tests result normal, I would recommend consulting with a psychiatrist or psychotherapist in order to focus on PTSD and try to recover from this situation.

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing all the best,
