Brief Answer:
Please elaborate your query. Use chlorhexidine gargles.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. Shahbaz

Welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

Could you please tell me from how many days you are suffering from cough and if you have any other symptoms like fever, pain in the throat, itching or irritation in the throat, or cold/running nose, phlegm while coughing?

For the time being, you can use Chlorhexidine mouth wash, gargle with it as advised on the bottle, and spit it out, and do not swallow saliva or do not drink water or eat anything for 15 minutes after doing the gargling.

If you have any fever, throat pain, cold then you must consult your local doctor for clinical examination to rule out bacterial pharyngitis.

If the cough is persistent for more than 3 weeks, and if you have evening rise of temperature, weight loss or any other symptom, then you must get your sputum checked for Tuberculosis.

I hope this answers your query.

Best regards
