Brief Answer:
COPD

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query/reports and here is my opinion.

1) As per reports, the Diagnosis is COPD (Chronic obstructive Pulmonary Disease).
It is a group of lung diseases where due to chronic exposure to irritants ,there is destruction of lung air sacs, narrowing of bronchial tubes, retention of secretions, formation of mucus plugs, local inflammation, interference with outward air flow and recurrent secondary infection.

2)COPD is a chronic and progressive disease which is not curable as the lung changes do not get reversed with treatment but most patients will live with the disease for many years.

It is quite possible to achieve level of normalcy despite its challenges.
Patient should quit smoking, avoid irritants like smoke, pollution, dust, should avoid complex carbs in diet,be physically active,do breathing exercises and get the inter current infections treated immediately.

It is quite impossible to prognosticate a particular patient on the basis of chest X ray.
The treating doctor, who has clinically examined the patient and has gone for pulmonary function tests, echo (and sometimes HRCT Chest) would be in a better position to reveal the prognosis.

3)Unfolded aorta refers to widened appearance of the aortic arch on a chest radiograph which is commonly seen with increasing age.
It is due to the discrepancy in the growth of the ascending aorta with age advancement.
Length of the ascending aorta increases disproportionate to diameter, thus causing this appearance.
This is an incidental and benign finding.

4)Theoretically,Complications of COPD include recurrent chest infections, heart failure, lung failure and at times, lung cancer.
