Hi,
Welcome to ASK A DOCTOR through HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
In your profile the gender was mentioned as female.
The Combo test for HIV infection carried out for you is to detect HIV 1 (subtype M (main) and O (Outlier)) and aslo to te detect the antibodies against HIV 2. You are free from HIV 1 and 2.Within the HIV-M group, there is a further division into at least ten subtypes or clades. So you are free from all.

Hi doctor , I read that there are more subtypes of hiv besides M and O. Does this test cover that ? Do I need any more tests ?
I am a bit worried about the two smal swollen nodes . This is the second test I have done . The first one was 4 months after exposure and this was 6 months after exposure .
Do I need any more tests or these are final ? Thanks

Brief Answer:
The presence of nodes unlikely to be due to HIV infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Almost all the subtypes of HIV have been covered in this test except the very rarest subtype of N. That had been identified only with few people that too who belong to the XXXXXXX country, Cameroon and nowhere else. So you need not bother about the same. You don't need any further test for HIV infection.
First of all, confirm the presence of the lymph nodes by a physician. Don't decide yourself. Then the physician will find out the exact reason for the presence of the nodes by investigations. There are umpteen reasons for the enlargement of nodes in our body.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not likely to be related to HIV
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Medicine is not mathematics to get a constant answer. Moreover I can answer on the basis of the things enumerated by you. I was not exactly in the picture. So I can use words like those only.
Lymph node enlargements can occur in non HIV conditions and in HIV disesae. There may be lot of reasons for the lymphnode enlargement both in Non HIV and HIV disease conditions. So there is no specific pattern for lymphnode enlargement in HIV disease. Persistent generalised lymphadenopathy, tuberculous adenitis, Lymphomas, association of syphilis are few such conditions where we can have lymph node enlargements in HIV disease. In each conditions the characters of lymphnode enlagement may have some variations in the presentations.
So not try to do resarch on this. Approach a physician and get examined. He/she will help in this regard.
