Question: developed severe indigestion thursday afternoonwih extreme bloating became severe unable to eat,drinkwater, or sleep.sawdoctor on friday prescribed zaflon for anti nausea, pepcid ac for gas and levofloxacin antibitic
saturday still unable to eat drink water or sleep, went to ER CT SCAN, diagnosed Colitis prescribed cipher and metroniazdolone antibiotics, began chicken broth diet
steady improvement Sunday Monday Tuesday. On tuesday switched to Jello.
Severe distress Wednesday severe abdominal pain, incidents incontinence with thick watery stools. Went ER given zoysia antibiotic IV and zafron, by late Wednesday felt much better, returned home nausea returned, took copra and metronizadone, incontinence returned worse
WBC count 14.2 on saturday, normal today.ER doctor advised unknown if colitis caused by bacteria.
now suspect cipro and metronidazole making situation worse, considering stopping them since may be making situation worse

Hello,
I would suggest you initially to go for stool routine and microscopy test followed by culture and sensitivity test which would reveal that which bacterial species is involved and to which antibiotic is that particular strain susceptible. Drugs would be used accordingly.A possibility of recurrence can be that particular bacterial strain is resistant to the antibiotic.

After test results treatment should be like-Antibiotic to which bacteria are susceptible A probiotic to replete the good bacteria of the gut B complex capsule. Light food for a few days with plenty of fluid.
