Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.
I have gone through your query and would like to offer some information.
In the first event, she was in the safe period when the intercourse took place. Also, the use of the emergency contraceptive gives 99 percent protection.
In the second event, she is in the fertile period but the consumption of the emergency contraceptive within the stipulated time interval will give the same amount of protection.
The cause of the delay in the onset of the period is the hormone disruption caused by the emergency contraceptive pills because they contain high doses of progesterone.
You can wait for a week and get further help from your health care provider if the period does not occur by ten days.
Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.
regards,
Shanti.V.

Hello,
Thanks for writing back.
The drug mainly works by inhibiting ovulation. However, alteration in the endometrial thickness is another factor that is likely to be used in affecting implantation of the fertilized ovum.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Mostly in the proliferative phase only.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing again.
This drug is mostly useful in the proliferative or pre-ovulatory phase of the menstrual cycle. Studies have not shown much use in the luteal phase. Once the LH peak has occurred the efficiency is not much. The endometrial effect, i.e., prevention of implantation, is limited.
Hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
