does covid 19 cause blood pressure to go up. Does it affect your blood flow ?
Brief Answer:
There is no evidence that covid 19 causes blood pressure high
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. Hope I can be of help for you today. There is no evidence that covid 19 causes blood pressure high and neither severity disease with patients who have hypertension. But Covid 19 is associated with a hypercoagulable state associated with acute inflammatory changes that cause an increased clotting factor. So for all patient who is admitted to the hospital for Covid 19 should have a baseline complete blood count (CBC) with platelet count, PT, aPTT, fibrinogen, and D-dimer ( those are coagulation testing).
I hope that It can help you, and please let me know if you have any clarification or question about that, and I would be welcome to discuss it with you further. I hope you have good health.
Best regards,

I was on plavix for year and ahalf then was told i could stop it. About a week or two later I started having chest pains and pressure and my blood pressure was getting higher. My doctor put me back on the plavix and prescribed Metolboc a beta blocker 1 time daily.
I took it a few nights but my heart rate was getting low and was pounding. I stopped taking it and made another appointment he told me to keep taking the betablocker and added Ranolizine 500mg er 2 times daily. I didnt take the betablocker but took the other for a week or so then i got the virus and my bloodpressure went to 218/109 84 . Ive been taking losartan 100mg for a couple of years now but i dont think its working. I went to ER and the gave me cloidine .1mg and its working to keep my BP down but i still feel like i dont have good bloodflow to my legs, feet and arms. Can this be associated with the virus

Hello,
Thank you again for your question. I would like to know more about your history. Why did you take plavix? Do you have any heart disease? Feeling not good blood flow can be caused by many reasons. If the virus can cause the complication of blood clot it can cause you to not feel good blood flow in a vein or artery in this case you need to stay at the hospital to get further evaluation. But there are also other problems, you should see your doctor to rule out any serious disease.
Wish you have good health. Let me know if I can assist you further.
