Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation would help
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I understand that it is more convenient to interact over phone, however, this platform does not provide facilities for a telephonic discussion. Neverhteless, I can still help you out if you can specify the problem.
Most often earache is due to cough and cold. During such episodes the tube that connects the middle ear with the inner throat, gets blocked, thus creating pressure differences in the middle ear. This can lead to earache. Unless there is discharge from the ears, ear drops only have a limited role. Rather, taking steam inhalation should help. Water vapour will reach deep inside and would dilute the cough, thus providing relief. As of now you can continue otogesic but steam inhalation is more important.
Feel free to write back.
