Hello Doctor My Wife Was Out For An Accident Today,

Question: hello Doctor My wife was out for an accident today, when she was filling diesel on her car the pipe burst and she got diesel all over her clothing and face and hair - she was completely covered in oil. She removed all clothing, throw them away, and did get regular eye washes. She did feel nausea from the smell for a while, but 4 hours later she feel normal again, except sensitive skin on face after regular washing. She did wash her hair about 5-6 times with great shampo and facewash. Even washing hair and body this often the hair still smells. What I wanted to know is even her hair smells like diesel after washing for hours in hot shower; are these concentrations of smell dangerous for people around here and for herself ? or are these concentration so low that it will not hurt anyone ?
Brief Answer:
No need to worry for her or others.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the detailed history you have given.
I don't think she or others are at risk ftom diesel smell. Concentrations are low enough not to hurt her or any other family member. And she did absolutely right thing by thrashing clothes, bathing, shampoo etc.
Try to get more sun exposure and fresh air exposure.
Don't worry, no one is at risk.
Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Watch for symptoms like cough, chest pain, breathlessness etc.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your wife. Thanks.
