Brief Answer:
It may take weeks to get better.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

You have started the treatment so the pain may have started to get better but may need weeks to go away completely.
You have to chew the bananas and apples well, eating them slowly, staying upright when eating and for an hour after finishing food.
If you see that bananas and apples cause the pain you can have them less frequently in order that you give time to esophagitis to get cured.
Also remember to have a proper diet to help Gerd get treated avoiding highly acidic foods such lemons , tomatoes, grapefruits, pineapple , sauces etc.

Hope I have answered the question .
Let me know if I can assist you further.
