Hello Doctor! I Am Writing Because My 11 Month Old
Probably ok to give every 4 hours
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using Ask a Doctor. I am not very familiar with tachiprine suppost, but it appears to be paracetamol given rectally. Whether taking by mouth or by rectum, the dose is the same, which is 10-15 mg per kilogram per dose, given every 4 to 6 hours, with the maximum amount per day being 75 mg per kilogram (if you normally use pounds, you can get kilograms by dividing pounds by 2.2), and you should only give 5 doses in one day. So for an 11 month old, they usually weigh around 8 kilograms (or 17 pounds), so the typical dose would be 80 to 120 mg. If the dose you gave was within this range, it would be safe to give another dose after 4 hours.
For your older girl, yes, it would be completely safe to go ahead and give her a bath.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions about any of that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
No need to treat a fever
Detailed Answer:
A fever is a normal response to an illness, and the fever itself does not harm your child, so I would not be so worried about the fever, especially a mild fever. Only if the child had a high fever greater than 40, or was significantly uncomfortable from the fever do you need to treat it at all, and I think every 4 hours is likely to be sufficient. So if it goes higher than 38.5, do not worry, it will not harm your baby.
If the paracetamol you are giving has a concentration of 160mg/5mL, then you are giving the maximum dose (a little bit more than the maximum dose but it's close enough), so I would not raise the dosage.
Let me know if you have any other questions and I would be glad to help any way I can.
That is a good dose
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
120/125 mg is a good dose for both by mouth and rectal, so I would just keep that same dose.
You can give every 4 hours, up to 5 times in 24 hours. Again, the fever will not harm her, so you don't need to treat it, only if it is making her uncomfortable. If she is still uncomfortable from the fever in between doses of the Paracetamol, you can also try putting cool clothes on her to help her cool down. But again, fever is not dangerous or harmful in any way and does not need to be treated.
The important thing about a fever is that it is a sign of something else going on, usually a viral illness.
Does she appear to have a cold (cough, stuffy nose)? If so, hopefully, the fever will break in the next day or so as her body fights it off.
